Ode to Ignorance

Too late do we realize our peril,
Too soon do we cower at regret's feet,
We show clean hands (that they may be sterile) -
And consequences do we rarely meet -

MIddle class ashtrays resembling, too much -
The grey matter we advertise as wit -
Brains made of ambition (ears full of wax) -
Love is capitalized, life is profit,

As stories written by unsteadied hands,
As liquid drank from a riveted mug -
The fool is he - who thinks he understands -
In truth he knows little, and knows not love.
